+1 Getting harder to do but not impossible. Absolute no to a WRX, there are other Subarus, plus Hondas and Mazdas and VWs available in stick. Also a fair amount of Wranglers.

As for the Impreza WRX, ask your insurance agent. That's like a race car and insurance rates for a new teen driver will be sky-high.
See if you can find a VW Jetta with stick.

Anonymous wrote:Manual transmission more attention to the act of driving and less opportunity for using your phone. Seems like a good choice for a teen who is interested and responsible.
Not 100% definitive evidence, but:

Mazda 3 still has the option for a manual transmission. Might not fit the bill for sporty car for a teen, but it's a good deal for a car with excellent safety ratings.
Anonymous wrote:Not necessarily. I bought a manual when I was 21 not knowing how to drive it. I never had to replace the clutch.Anonymous wrote:Sure. But prepare to replace the clutch in a year. Part of learning!
Anonymous wrote:My sister made her kid drive a manual bc it’s much harder to text while driving one.

Can't text while driving a stick? Amateurs.
Why would anyone text while driving?
How come police officers are allowed to operate laptop computers while driving?
Are police officers imbued with super-powers? Are they supernaturally gifted drivers? Why are they allowed to do much more than merely texting while driving, while mere citizens can’t even hold a phone in their hand?
What are your thoughts about this inconsistency? I’d really like to hear them.
Because they are rigorously trained
What is the training they undergo? Please be specific.
I’m not referring to pursuit driving training or high performance driving training - I’m speaking of the training that lets them text, talk on the phone handheld, and operate a laptop.
What’s that training consist of? What makes it rigorous? Please cite sources.

You’re the one who brought up texting and driving.
