They probably will. This crowd has their own schools which they insist are the best. But large segments of the local population wouldn’t send their kids to these schools if they were free.

Along with all the regular challenges of the job (raising money, managing faculty and coaches, satisfying parents, etc.) there's another thing that I think is critical to the school.

Because his predecessor was from this area, he would have been aware of the potential schism between the Landon Old Guard and the new set of parents. Retaining the support of the alumni (The Lax Bro, tough guy, athletics-focused crowd) while appealing to the new gentler and kinder group was no easy task.

As a local and a Gonzaga grad, O'Neill would have been aware of the school's reputation and the need to move away from it.

Will someone not from here grasp that and be able to navigate between the two as well?

Martire's wife Eva played lacrosse for Yale and is a lacrosse coach. She coached her daughter Belle at Kinkaid. Belle played for William and Mary and as a grad student for CLemson. So, the timing of the move may be good for him. In fact, it looks like he may have delayed a move so Max can finish Tatnall.

Eva Martire is not only a fantastic lacrosse coach, she is a genuinely caring and kind person who will make some amazing contributions to the Landon family. The community will be well served by the Martires. I have no doubt about it.
