Lunch ramen with veggies (corn/carrots/edamame) 14g protein
Mango smoothie just now with greek yogurt, mango, almond milk, chia seeds. 16g protein
That’s 54g already today and hasn’t had dinner yet.

So many almond moms on here.
My two teen boys go through a gallon of milk a day. Sometimes more. In addition to cheese, yogurt....
The dairy conversation is weird because it’s so ethnically dependent. My husband and I are both half Irish and grew up drinking like 32 ounces of milk a day until we were in our 20s. We still drink probably a glass a day of milk as 50 year olds. But I have friends who are Asian who never drink milk and friends who are Jewish who are very lactose intolerant.
A half galon a day is a lot thought even for a teen athlete as that js 8 glasses of milk a day — at that level it interferes with iron absorption and even a supper lactose friendly person has trouble digesting that much lactose that quickly.
You’re saying they drink more than 64 ounces of milk a day., in addition to other forms of dairy. That’s really a lot, and I’m the most pro-dairy person I’ve ever met.

I'm not a trainer, but it's going to be very difficult for a growing 13 year old to be a competitive athlete as a vegetarian. Some chicken or fish solves a lot of issues. A good steak would be best. My kids - boys - are athletes and there's no chance they could compete at their level as a vegetarian. Their caloric and protein intake is insane from an adult perspective. Adolescence alone requires a lot of nutrients. And then add heavy workouts. Almond milk and chia seeds don't do it. A vegetarian is going to be competing at a severe deficit. You can be a perfectly healthy adolescent as a mindful vegetarian that priorities other sources of protein. But I don't think you can be a competitive athlete in the teenage years as a strict vegetarian. We evolved to be omnivores for very good reasons.
My kids are vegetarians and highly competitive athletes. There are a lot of elite athletes that are vegetarian.
What sports? I don’t know why people don’t name the sport or sports.

For breakfast, my 14 year old ds just had four scrambled eggs with cheese, 30+ ounces of whole milk, berries, a banana, a bagel with cream cheese and some canadian bacon. That's a typical breakfast.

You sent one confusing vegetarian with vegan. The former eat eggs and dairy, while the latter do not.
Eggs and milk products on a vegetarian diet? Ok.![]()

This would not be enough to sustain my 40 year old moderately active self. Shame on you OP.
Yes it is. You’ll end up on a GLP by 45 because of your overeating.

What’s wrong with eggs and milk? OP didn’t say vegan diet.
Vegetarian diet = no meat of any kind including fish. Eggs are classified as "meat" as they are embryos.
Vegetarian diet shouldn't have milk products really, but that's a fine line.
The eggs we eat aren't embryos. How can you possibly not know that?
There are no roosters on egg farms.
You eat those kind of eggs? Ewwww. Pale yellow goo. I eat only free range real eggs.
