+1 Anyone applying to UVA should have UGA honors on the list

ED: UVA
Rolling (but applying early): Pitt
EA: UNC, PSU, VT
Regular: W&M, Delaware

What would you add (or drop) to/from this list? Thoughts?

What is their un-weighted GPA? Most schools look at that alongside rigor but don't use the inflated or weighted number.

She's captain of a verity sport and in some clubs. She's fine. She's not doing nothing.

PP. Applying to Pitt Honors is simpler than PSU Honors (these days). PSU Honors requires a lot of essays according to DCUM posters. I lived in the PSU Honors Dorm (Atherton). At the time the PSU program was heavily skewed male/engineering. I have heard they fixed that. But I would verify. I would expect the Pitt Honors dorm to be pretty nice - it is fairly new. Although it requires shuttle use.

It's not necessary to be in either program. It just may suit some students and their future plans. Freshman dorms are one of the compelling perks for some people.

.

Having two kids go through the process, UVA seems to admit mostly on stats. OP’s daughter has typical ecs and that seems to be all that’s required.

Also look at Clemson honors or U South Carolina honors

Our 2024 kid was engineering/CS but there was some overlap with your list. She received a big merit scholarship from Lehigh, moderate award at Pitt. Your daughter might like Lehigh. She’s at UVA. Agree that UNC might not be worth the app. Maybe Wisconsin and Michigan?

OP here. Thanks. I will try to remember to do so. I've been reading the DCUM college board for about a year and it's been helpful and eye opening. It's been especially helpful to see kids' stats along with where they applied and got in. Things are so different now.

I think they still matter, at least in the sense of being well-rounded and having other interests than just studying. Leadership also helps. I think the general though is that "pointy" kids do better in admissions at W&M.
