I feel like a lot of former Protestants have been drawn to Catholicism as many mainstream Protestant religions have become more and more liberal politically. I don't have any data to back this up - just personal observation.

We also really liked it and the rolling admission was calming- they offered DC a very generous merit award, even before the ED acceptance came in from another school.

7:47 here. Same for my son. He applied EA everywhere in October and heard from Duquesne about 2-3 weeks later with a good merit award.

We loved it. Visited twice. Fantastic, unique location. They had just announced they were building another dorm. Ended up going somewhere closer.

For a conservative Catholic experience at a public school, take a look at Texas A&M.i haven’t verified it, but they claim to be the largest congregation of Catholic students in America. St. Mary’s Catholic Center serves the campus and it is big. They have 2 priests, 3 deacons, 4 nuns and then a campus ministry team of ten and around ten additional FOCUS missionaries on staff. They built a new church due to growth and completed in 2023.

TAMU also produces a lot of seminarians. You also get the SEC sports experience. But it is hot down there!

Catholic families in Texas really seem to love sending their kids there. We know a few and they are all extremely happy with the choice.

This thread has been interesting ... wouldn't have guessed Northwestern, Duke and Brown would have robust Catholic presences!

Brown has a very close knit community that has exceeded expectations. They are housed in a gorgeous home where many choose to study and hang out often. Lots of events for dinners with speakers, bible studies, retreats, barbecues, and hang outs by the fire pit playing guitars. One of the Dominican Friars played in town with the Zac Brown band. They all seem to really enjoy it and make it a second home on campus.

Believe Catholics are the largest single denomination at Duke and the Newman Center is vibrant. Agree about Dartmouth and Princeton in the Ivy League. Among Catholic schools Georgetown, Holy Cross and Notre Dame. Georgetown and Holy Cross are run by the Jesuits and more liberal than ND.

Also, I appreciate the events and socials throughout the year which brings students, their families, and alumni together.

My child likes like The Aquinas Institute better than our youth and young adult program at our family parish.

Dartmouth has the Aquinas program as well. Wonderful program with like minded kids.
