We bought bedding at Home Goods -- found an UGG comforter plus sham for about $80 total. DD picked it out and loved it. HG also has lots of Twin XL sheets this time of year.

Pretty much, yes.

It’s a better size for schools because a regular twin can be too short for very tall students, but it’s not like they can easily just give taller students different furniture. Twin XL for all solves the problem.

Maybe a practical choice is a sleeping bag. Use it a comforter. Easy to grab and go when you get sexiled. I you don't know that that word is, it's ok but your DC needs to know it happens.

We purchased Parachute topper and cover. Brooklinen all season comforter and pillows. Bolls and Branch sheets. And a headboard from Pottery barn. A few sets of sheets from PB and Peacock Alley. Towels from PB as well.

Child won a full merit scholarship that covers everything. So splurging on room stuff didn’t feel a lot.

Nope. Teach your daughter to seek out friends who like people for who they are on the inside and not how rich their parents are. I was taught to befriend people who were rich and pretty, and was miserable until I threw out my mother's "rules" and befriended people who fit MY criteria - kind, smart and funny.

No, you can go to IKEA and Target instead of PBK and your bill will be lower.

I like the feel of my son's cheap cotton sateen sheets from Target. I'm going to buy some for my bed.
