Maga is a small part of the republican party. The majority of those who voted for 47 got sick of the dictator of the autopen with vaccine mandates, spending like drunken sailors and no clear message. The Republicans may lose the House in 2026, however JD will be 48th thanks in part to curbing spending and another false impeachment.

I agree that the Democrats should move more center but, building on your point, Americans don't want want the GOP/MAGA is selling either. They need to move more center as well. The Democrats will win in 2026 and 2028 as the political pendulum naturally swings.

The center doesn’t necessarily mean status quo, incremental change at the margins though. It actually might mean bold proposals that make life better for people in the center of the bell curve.

But the democrat way to “make life better” is to increase things the government provides. Free this, free that, etc. I think most people don’t want to see a bunch of social programs ran by the government (at the expense of those that pay taxes).

The function of government is to provide services and programs that individuals can’t provide on their own. I’m happy to pay taxes so we can have national parks and accurate weather forecasting. The majority of Americans like Social Security and Medicare. Do you want the full burden of caring for your elderly parents for 20+ years?

I have a crazy idea.

I know that it seems nuts, but what if we tax all of the hyper rich in an appropriate manner? We could tax wealth and income at a much higher rate and still probably be way lower than most 1st world countries, then use that money to benefit Americans.

Sigh. Such naïveté still when this topic has surfaced again and again.

Even demanding tax reform or instituting a punishing exit tax won’t stop the super rich from leaving. Unless you would like to see them jailed, which would be unsurprising.

Ohhh noooo, but then who will buy our elections, distort the markets, and shape policy to their benefit instead of the interests of the majority?

Swing state Trump voter here. Who voted for Obama twice. I know people on DCUM claim we don't exist but the numbers clearly show otherwise. And besides, how dare anyone challenge my "lived experience."

Trump may be a esthetically unpalatable but the other choice started out being someone who is literally dead. Then they installed someone who spoke like her brain chip was glitching.

So by default I'm MAGA.

You didn’t vote for Obama twice. And the irony of your second paragraph is palpable.

Trump has dementia, dude. He sundowns daily. He can’t string a logical sentence together. And he’s a frail old man with an even more fragile ego.

So on the off chance you are not lying, well, you’re just a gullible idiot.

You do realize Obama won two elections thanks to the same swing voters who foolishly swung towards Trump twice as well?? Or do you just not understand how politics and swing states work? At least you're smart enough to understand why 80 year people shouldn't be POTUS.

Anonymous wrote:The election was NOT an endorsement of RW policies or Trump. It was a vote against the incumbent party, the same thing happening all over the world! Yes, we have way too many bigots and racist people citizens. But yesterday proved that a huge majority do not want what Trump is selling.

Humans are complicated. We can’t deduce a person down to one vote. But yesterday, millions of Americans came out to show their disapproval. And look at the images. These aren’t “radical, socialist, Democrats.”

I’m sure MAGA will try to spin some fanciful tale, but we all saw the pitiful fascist parade vs. the MILLIONS of everyday people, from small “red” towns to big “blue” cities coming together to show their love of country(lots of 🇺🇸) and their opposition to MAGA.

Correct. Any political scientist will tell you the 2024 POTUS race was lost by Joe Biden. There were no winners. Only losers.

Naw. It’s been heavily suggested by Elon himself that they hacked the computers and stole the election.

People don't want what Republicans CLAIM the Democrats are selling. According to Republicans the top issues for Democrats are having transwomen take over womens sports, replacing Americans with illegals, DEI = replacing superiorly qualified workers with totally unqualified female black midget amputees with epilepsy, sending all our money overseas but forcing veterans to be homeless in a cardboard box, degenerating on down to sex change operations forced on kids in elementary school, deep state, stolen elections, getting rid of private industry and replacing it with socialism, eating bugs and living in a pod (Klaus Schwab) and on and on and on.

Yet that's not actually been anywhere in the DNC platform nor any part of any major Democrats' campaign platforms.

Republicans win elections because they run on lies and fearmongering.

This is an exaggeration- but this absolutely is happening on a lesser scale. If you have elementary kids in public school you would know

C’mon man. You actually believe that boys are coming home from elementary schools as girls, and vice versa. If that’s the exaggeration, pray tell wtf is the lesser scale?

We also need to put to rest the idea that Dems want to take all your guns, abort you 9 month fetuses, perform transgender operations on your kids while they’re at school, and keep undocumented cat-eating criminals in our country. I don’t know one Dem who wants those things. The MAGA propaganda machine swayed the election.

Why does this matter? Why does the vote of somebody who lives in Pennsylvania matter more than the vote of somebody who lives in Maryland?

PP's proposal to tax income at a higher rate would actually take the US back to the time when America was supposedly "great" -- look it up.

And if the super-rich leave, don't let the door hit them on the butt. They're not contributing anything anyway.

Are you telling me a vocal minority makes people this scared? They are a bunch of cowards.

This has been explained too. They’re not scared. They love the political expediency of a dictator. They don’t care about their freedoms or yours. This majority in Congress, minority on population, are thrilled with the idea of a king.

The Democrats need to get better at communicating. And, honestly, there need to be legal journalistic standards like there once were. With the constant lies and propaganda that MAGA spews it's hard for anyone to comete.

Exactly right. The Republicans are the only ones obsessing over these things. For years they’ve been using wedge issues to win elections. In 2015 it was BLM, in 2020 it was CRT, now it’s DEI. Different dog whistle, same dogs.

Democrats don’t advance by moving to the center and running as Republicans Lite. That turns off progressives, while people who want Republicans are going to vote for the real thing. Every time the Dems move center, it gives the GOP permission to tack further to the right. Bill Clinton’s triangulation strategy was successful in the short term, but it allowed the right to regroup, entrench, and form the Tea Party.

People who suggest this want Republicans to win.
