This is the right answer. It doesn't matter what you were venting about. I don't want to be having sex with someone who isn't a good human with a normal amount of empathy and self-regulation.
Agree with above PPs. Plus, the way he said it, unnecessarily harsh boundary. It's like he had already thought "I'll be with her, but I'm not getting involved with her kids." How long will a relationship like that last for you? Take the cue, make your exit.

I was hurt. I’m not asking this guy to help me raise my kid. I was being vulnerable by telling him what was really going on with me. It seemed like he was upset that I am a mom. I don’t get why he signed up for dating me in the first place.
Men generally don't want to get involved in situations between a woman and her ex's kids. Nothing good comes of that.
Men in general don't want to date single mothers for that reason and the obvious reason she already ran away from one marriage, so she's not to be trusted too much.
