What kind of sales? Which industry? What is the day to day job of people in sales who make 750K+?

Not op - but this kind of income is tied to either large deals (think 8 and 9 figure deals - eg. Hyperscale datacenters, large enterprise software), or industries with recurring/growing books of business (consulting, managed services, large industrial sales). Often, this looks like very intense work/travel, for 3-5 years to develop your territory or book, and then it can be a relatively easy day-to-day experience - think less than 40 hours a week.

I know a man who is very successful in pharmaceutical sales. He is very tall and handsome, but he’s on his fourth wife

I think some people would distrust a beautiful saleswoman or take her less seriously though

This is wrong. Being a woman in sales is an advantage. Women are often seen as more trustworthy, more empathetic and more trustworthy. Men enjoy dealing with women. Bonus if you’re attractive. I am a woman on track to earn $1.5M this year. Financial services, which is a type of selling.

Pharmaceutical sales love former women’s college athletes. If they’re attractive, it’s a bonus. These sales reps can do very well.

Sales is very personality driven. Most men aren't cut out to be successful sellers either. There's a reason why athletes do so well transitioning into sales after college sports. Athletic women are catching up with the athletic men because there were far fewer athletic women in previous generations. At my F500 among the sellers I know, an athletic background in college sports is a common factor most of them have. And I also think people confuse attraction with the kind of forward focused personalities you find in athletic people.

Among the non-athletes in sales, you see a lot of other "forward facing" types in sales--people who like the spotlight in a conventional sort of way and talking. A lot of class presidents, people who play guitar in bands (not quirky theater kids, though), that kind of thing.

You would think partner would make far more than 300K

What makes you think they don’t?

Ha, I wrote the partner, consulting firm post. And yes, a lot more.
