Northeast or CA ideally, but would consider other areas (not red states).

Why would you consider W&M if you only want Northeast, CA and not red? Performative BS.

Virginia is not a red state and Williamsburg is one of the most liberal cities in Virginia

I know that VA is not usually a red state. But any state that Trump won in 2024 is too red for me.

Likelies could be skidmore, conn college, trinity college, u San Diego. These are no safeties as the acceptance rates aren’t high enough. But if you have the scores for brown, you should be able to appeal to skidmore.

W&M is in a red state…

VA is purple. Give us a year.

All of those are in Trump states except Vermont.

Mine had the stats for Brown and was WL at W&M. In at a few top 20s so it didn’t matter in the end, except to say it is not a safety just bc the kid has high stats.

Yes, this is our concern. Kid needs a true “likely” that is a good fit.

Just a guess, but I felt like W&M sensed kid would go elsewhere even if offered a spot. Day after WL offered, kid withdrew the app there.

Good luck

For a school with a higher acceptance rate than the schools in this group, look into Connecticut College.

Thanks

+1 DD got into W&M as a target. GWU and Connecticut College were safeties - both great in their own ways but CC was more similar to W&M in vibe and campus.

When you live in NoVA, it doesn’t feel southern. A friend used to joke that the Mason-Dixon Line dips around us.

As a non-Southerner, NoVA feels southern! Mind you, not Alabama, but definitely southern.

UVM. Was the likely for both of my kids who liked Brown.

Oberlin is not in your geographical target zone but it is the place for people whose reach is Brown full stop. As as Vassar and Wesleyan (too selective to be targets) and Bard and Sarah Lawrence to a degree. If your dc liked Brown’s artsy side, Emerson or New School could be likelies.

Of the schools produced above by another poster from College Navigator, Union may offer the most highly regarded psychology program.

With respect to the Claremont Colleges, Pitzer may offer the best psychology programs.
