Mark Kelly probably has the best chance. He ticks a lot of boxes for disenfranchised and/or disgusted Republicans.
By 2028 I think the populace will be fed up with billionaires, in general, and will reject Pritzker on that alone.
Mark Kelly has a great resume, but he doesn't have charisma. Think of Bill Clinton. Or Barack Obama. That's not Mark Kelly. Not happening.
Unfortunately, this. And I love Mark Kelly.
That's why my pick is Osoff. Also, I think we need someone young to bring back the young voters.
But you need to adapt an outside-the-beltway mindset, and consider what state the country will be in by 2028. Despite some saying Kelly lacks charisma, I think by 2028 most people will be so beaten down they will want experienced, solid and ethical.
Many Republicans will have had enough of Trump's bravado and b.s./"charisma" by then and will be willing to consider someone like Kelly. His resume and experience can win them over.
Kelly can pick a younger person for his VP and draw in younger voters.

I like him too. Thoughtful. But there is no base of support for him.
The American two party system is very limiting.
This is very true! Don't think for a second our two rotten political parties are going to give up this power anytime soon.
True. The Dem party establishment is not so great either. Who is running things these days?
Money
Isn’t there a newish Dem party chair?

She is a multiple time U.S. Representative (AOC), who is incredibly smart and well-spoken, not to mention brave af. So take your misogyny and shove it. Shame on you for trying to reduce her to a "bartender." She is literally the American Dream.
Amen!

I disagree that we need a moderate. Republicans cast all democrats, moderates or not, as crazy leftist dems. Since moderates are never seen as moderates anyway, let’s put up a candidate that actually IS progressive.
Agreed! The proof for me is the hatred that the GOP had for Bill Clinton, who positioned himself as a centrist. The went after him like rabid dogs despite the fact that he accomplished several things that the GOP would have embraced if he were a Republican:
1)Welfare Reform: He signed the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act in 1996, overhauling the welfare system. The reform introduced work requirements, a five-year lifetime limit on federal benefits, and shifted much control to the states through block grants. Clinton aimed to reduce long-term dependency and promote employment, framing the effort as "ending welfare as we know it." Although controversial, the reform was a major bipartisan achievement during his presidency.
2) Balanced Budget: He worked with a Republican Congress to pass the 1997 Balanced Budget Act, which combined spending cuts and tax increases to reduce the federal deficit. By the end of his presidency, the U.S. had achieved a budget surplus for the first time in decades.
