Why should we care? How can this harm us?

To be blunt, Russia, North Korea, and others could exploit military weaknesses using this information. Serious attacks could happen on both military and civilian targets.

Data that we rely on could be erased. What if one day your work history no longer exists in the Social Security database? It won't matter that you paid in for all those years once it's gone.

Our leadership may already be getting blackmailed. They may also be getting threatened. We don't want decisions being made under coercion.

I'm sure there are many more possibilities. Get creative with your critical thinking.
