Why would you think they weren't arresting criminals before the task force was created? The combined resources of the federal and state law enforcement entities are a force multiplier.
If you want know about VA arrests before the task force spin up that information is readily available.
These task forces existed well before Trump. I know because I work with them in the 2007-2015 time frame. The difference is that due process was a thing back then.
We didn't have as many crossing the border illegally 'til Biden.

Biden/Harris knew about them and ignored the problem of dangerous criminal aliens victimizing innocent people in America for 4 years.
Thank you, Governor Youngkin !

"The Arlington County Police Department does not assist immigration agents, as stated on the county's website."

I do not support NOVA local government assisting ICE unless/until those picked up get due process before being shipped to El Salvador. Period. As long as the the Trump Admin is openly violating the Constitution, I don’t support local government making it easier for them.
If the Trump Admin starts following the law, local government should assist them.

Last week Fairfax County released an illegal immigrant who was convicted of statutory rape of a minor. The child is also a member of his family. This is the type of man you would support being allowed to be released back into American communities?
We're his immigration status and nationality relevant to release?
If yes, please explain how.
If not, your story is not in the least bit relevant to the question at hand and is a cheap and inflammatory scare tactic of the kind used many times before by dictators who think their followers are racist and stupid.

Obama was the deporter in chief and had not problem with actions like these. I voted for Obama twice and have no problem with this either.

You didn't read the announcement in the OP?
The Virginia Homeland Security Task Force operation started on February 25th. On February 27th Governor Youngkin signed EO #47 that was linked in the post you replied to. He "waited" until the newly created combined federal and state task force became operational to sign an EO that allowed for cooperation between state law enforcement and federal law enforcement.
Please. You don’t need to establish a task force to arrest criminals. Think for a second.

This is not the directive given to local law enforcement. They are told not to assist ICE. There is no constitutional qualifier.
