B will be able to support herself if SAHD leaves.
A would have to give up her flexibility to support her family if WOHD dies or leaves.
B is in the better position simply because she already is working outside the home. Men can easily take on less desirable positions like trash man, construction, janitor than most SAHM would want to if they had to start working immediately.

I am B, now, so I guess that's who I'd rather be...
I don't think I'd enjoy SAH. I did work PT when kids were little during COVID, and I'm glad I had that time.

Money and work aren't the only important factors here. It depends on what kind of people these women are, what kind of people they are married to, how well they gel together and what are other influential factors in their lives.

I'm living option A. Wasn't really a decision so much as being honest with myself that I am not a professionally ambitious person. But it works well for us mainly bc even though DH and I divvy up work in a way that to outsiders would look highly heteronormative, he is ideologically egalitarian.

A is definitely better off.
I've worked with woman B- though the salary wasn't 1 million, and more often than not the husband was a total loser so she was doing everything outside the home and everything inside as well. I could never figure out the attraction.
