This isn’t France. So in other words you are waiting and will protest when everyone else does it? If everyone thought that way, nobody would be protesting.

I’m not afraid to protest. We just don’t have a unified process yet. We need mass French-style protests and we don’t have that scale yet.

This makes me think you didn't go but whatever you say.

Effective protest happens at polling stations. It doesn't happen when a bunch of unhinged so-called protesters and counter-protesters throw rocks at each other.

you sound stupid go sit down.

Did you go to the large protest in DC? Only asking because a friend did and also had the same disappointed feeling afterward.

I went to my smaller, local protest and had a positive outlook afterward. The speakers gave us information on what we can do locally to help and how to do it. There were booths that provided information and flyers with the contact details of our local politicians to reach out.

The larger protests seem performative to me. I also have issues with anxiety + large crowds, which is why I've avoided protesting thus far. But when I saw my small town was holding one, I figured that'd be a good chance to test out my anxiety in a moderate crowd in a familiar location.

So, the ones that you did not attend seemed “performative”. Got it.

Many of us went to the larger protests —and came away inspired and heartened by the collective energy of being a part of a large, peaceful crowd.

Because protesting is easy when there are no consequences.

High school kids protesting for fun control or for BLM get into Harvard.

High school kids protesting against ICE get labeled trouble makers.

They didn't believe in "good trouble" as John Lewis used to call it.

If there is absolutely no chance of getting your head bashed in or negative lifetime consequences, the problem can probably just be addressed with the next election. It's when there are consequences that we need the protesting.

That crowd is the same as every protest crowd except that the average age looked to be about 70. No one gets dressed up to protest, not sure what your expectations are.

There won't be a decade of this. Things will soon either change at the polls or by other means.
. Dems keep thinking they can “use other means” to get rid of popular political opponents. But this makes Dems even less likey to succeed at the ballot box. Voters aren’t impressed by BLM terrorism or by Dem arsonists igniting Teslas.

Are those actually organized by Democrats? I am a registered Democrat, and I am watching carefully what is happening with my party. I have a lot of questions about how the Democratic party is organizing the current protests. We were always able to work out our policies by different ways and what is happening now is destroying our party. I afraid we are going to lose midterm election if the violence and protests continue.

What violence? Don't conflate peaceful demonstrations with unlawful violence.

There were plenty of violance and destructions during BLM protests. Violence against Tesla owners who are mostly democrats do not equal to peaceful demonstrations.

But people (speaking to everyone upthread) are impressed by rioting to disrupt an election and harm elected officials?

GTFOH to anyone accusing Dems of "violence" and who ignores the FAR WORSE J.6.

But we are in the fledgling stage of the authoritarian state. If more of us don’t act now, things will become more and more entrenched. More people will be scared to act.
