VSA belongs with the first group, not the second. Their teams across RL are slightly stronger than McLean green, so I would expect them to be much stronger than McLean white.


This assumes these teams going to GA remain the same as the ecnl-rl teams. Which they won’t.


I know for at least one age group, only a couple of McLean RL players were invited to the new GA team- so the RL team becomes the new aspire team.


I have heard the same, and as a non-MYS parent I’m absolutely fascinated. On the one hand, many MYS teams were struggling in ECRL (7s, 10s, and 12s had losing records and were in the bottom half of the table). So it makes sense those same teams wouldn’t be competitive in GA, so need to play at the Aspire level.

But who are the players moving to MYS GA, and where are they coming from? Top players will continue to play for VDA, Union, and Arlington. After that, players will go to SYC and maybe NVA / Loudoun. So is this players who moved to Revolution or TSJ last year who live closer to the beltway?

I guess we’ll see next year.

2012 is really weak and has always been. They need to add more than worry about anyone leaving.

2013 and 2014 are better.

So you’re telling us you’re in leadership because I don’t see any public facing announcements that would lead me to believe PPA is making any more of an effort than Potomac.

What happens with the PPA 2010 team will be telling, if they truly do regress that will be all anyone needs to see to know the answer to the original question.

I think the main thing that could be holding PPA girl-side back is that by having practices more DC-centric, they don't get the lower/mid Montgomery County crowd that are looking for an alternative from Bethesda, Potomac, and the myriad of small clubs dotting MoCo. Granted, DC has the wealth and density to create a base for pay-for-play soccer, but, is it enough, and is lower/mid MoCo needed for a super high-end team?

Agreed, looking at the past is one way to try to predict the future. But looking at current posture, initiatives, leadership, management attention and focus (just compare their various announcements on their websites, Instagram, etc.) PPA is more forward leaning and showing leadership on building up their girl's side.

Huh? The only age group where PPA girls has a better team than Potomac is 2010 and rumor has it that team is falling apart.

Per the girls club rankings Potomac is 366 and PPA is 501. If one of them is going to make GA it will be Potomac.

Maybe for this year? But, if there's enough "branding" and structure created, stronger girls/teams should/would move to GA Aspire teams/clubs. At least that has been the way youth soccer has tended to happen - introduce something, say it'll be more exclusive (better players, etc.) and people do move. (Except all the weird MLS Next 2, NAL stuff going on.... people don't seem to be moving for that.)

PPA is a rec team similar to MSI classic playing EDP. GA aspire is another rec league. There is a huge difference between GA and GA Aspire. They will be better off playing EDP imo.

Not from your area but do remember my daughters team playing PPA 2010. They were pretty good if I remember correctly and had a good striker, I think and maybe a RM. everything kind of blends together so don't mean to leave anyone out.
