This made me chuckle because it's so true. Once I was walking down a sidewalk and a guy stops me in my tracks. "Can I just tell you that you are fabulous. I'm having such a girl crush right now." I was glowing over that one.

I'm flattered. It's never bothered me when men cat call or whistle. I suppose I could find it scary if I was alone with one of them in a dark alley but on a sunny street with lots of people I take it as a compliment!

This thread is pretty interesting. I’m female (African American) and complement men and women all the time. I also get compliments on the regular. This past Sunday, I was walking through DuPont farmers market and received at least 7 compliments from men and women. Not because I’m stunning or even super attractive, but I smile a lot. When walking around in public, I make a point to smile at everyone who meets my eyes. I’m pretty sure that’s why I get complimented so often. I’m also a huge flirt.

No, you need to keep your mouth shut if those are the “compliments” you’re thinking. 100% you’ll sound like a creep, and as a fun bonus, may even get kicked out of your gym for making women uncomfortable. On second thought, why not give it a go?

I think so. I’m a woman, and I recently complimented an older gentleman on his shirt - I was wearing one similar and told him “what a great shirt!” As I was exiting the grocery store and he was walking in. He beamed the biggest smile and I definitely don’t think he thought I was hitting on him.

Maybe it depends on the compliment? I used to compliment men when they got hair cuts. Just “did you get a hair cut? Looks nice.” If you’re like “wow you have the most gorgeous blue eyes I’ve ever seen in my life” then, yeah, maybe it’s getting into flirting territory.

I commented on this thread previously, but it makes me want to commit to telling one person a day a nice compliment. A sincere, non creepy compliment lol.
