It’s does take a complete idiot or a “disabled” person to not realize that he was intentionally allowed to win (or, his challengers were 90-year olds who literally never held a golf club before)

I think you are overall right - and also this is his little pet project. I think he is overall a horrible, stupid, lazy, narcissist who rapes, lies, and steals when he wants to because who's ever going to do anything about it. He is careless and does not care one whit about anyone else's wellbeing.
And also I think the one thing he actually believes in in outside of all that is these idiotic tariffs. Like he truly believes he is doing a good thing for the country here, I think.
I really don’t think he thinks like that. I think it’s all Art of the Deal power posturing. He wants power, and he wants power over others. This is a way to get it. It’s not broader or deeper than that.

We can, but I don't think it's going to change anything.
Trump just isn't that smart, but he thinks he is. I'm not saying he's unintelligent, but he's a very weird person who is stuck in the past. He has a lot of "beliefs" that he's not open to changing because he has zero intellectual curiosity, and because when he rambled on about tariffs at some NY dinner party in the '90's no one actually took him seriously. It's why he has the weird hair, the spray tan, the gold toilets.
The truth is that as a child/teen/young man he wasn't punched in the face for being an obnoxious boor.

I posted this before, but trump reminds me of many senior male patients with both narcissistic personality disorder (https://www.mcleanhospital.org/npd-provider-guide) AND dementia who were admitted to the geriatric psychiatry unit at my med school. These patients were so narrowly focused on self-aggrandizement and their impending slide into cognitive decline made them so angry because they were now being told that they were wrong about simple things like where their glasses were or how old their grandkids were. They wanted tributes from everyone and the rn’s were unbelievably patient with them. You couldn’t not convince them that water was wet.

MAGA (not just Trump) are obsessed with the belief that the rest of the world is not doing their fair share. They believe the US has been underwriting the rest of the world to our detriment. These tariffs, insulting Europe, threatening to take over our allies, etc. are all symptoms of this belief, not Trumps’s personality disorder (although I do believe other behaviors he exhibits are a sign if a PD).
