The problems is that the Japanese and Kiwis and Europeans and Canadians who came to spend a bunch of money and leave are annoying in the summer in DC when they take bikes on metro in the summer and don’t stand on the right on the escalator, but aren’t the “filthy foreigners” MAGA is taking about. Remember Trump wanted MORE immigrants from Nordic countries (they’re blonde!).

This is misleading. While 2.3 trillion is the aggregate value of ALL travel and tourism in the US, only about 5% of that figure is attributable to international tourism.

You understand that the different sectors are dependent on each other for growth, right, and when one or more sectors fall, the others will fall too. So when tourism is down because of international travelers, and when tariffs hit the private sector and when the public sector is experience massive layoffs, it all cascades down.
