I have not been able to renew any service contracts. I can believe that this will affect the bottom line for companies providing analytical instruments.

Can you give examples of things that you are making do without because you can’t renew the service contracts? I wish the NiH stuff was front page news every day with stories explaining the real world impact. I don’t think Americans understand what is happening — they just keep hearing DEI and immigrants deportations and many of them are happy with that. I don’t think anyone voted to dismantle health care and medical research.

And just wait until we’re trying to have them done by GSA (per the new E.O.).

It’s widespread. There’s a narrow list of contract actions that can be continued, e.g., IT security, facilities management, patient care and safety. Otherwise contract actions have to be approved by the Acting Director, and in some cases DHHS.

Thanks for the info. Sad and stressful weeks ahead for our family and for many others. I hope the rest of you here are able to keep your jobs. The intentional dismantling of scientific progress is horrifying.

America is becoming a laughingstock.

They want to cut 7,000 out of the current 15,700 FTEs?

Who said this? These numbers were not mentioned at today’s ICD meeting.
