Why doesn't WMATA do security check points at random Metro stations on random days?

We did that in NYC post 9/11 and it turned up weapons, plus it kept some sketchy people out of the subway.

I take metro daily. Safety is not about politics but about not getting a tbi at 5pm at LF for me. Ranting about motives is a luxury for those who live in burbs or who drive everywhere and don’t fear getting carjacked with young kids. I care about results.

That office, lax judges and the elected AGs who focused on restorative justice have been a disaster. RJ is big in MoCo and NoVa too. Not curbing carjacking in region has spread crime everywhere.

A woman was shot at 9pm inside Water Front station, she was not intended target, teens started shooting at each other.

Another woman was recently attacked by a group of teen girls at Union Station, around 5pm.

I lived here in 90s, EoTP and inside the metro system was safe then. There were not roving bands of teens at rush hour tasing middle aged women and kicking them in the head. I’ve seen Metro police following the girl gangs, they show no fear of them. The US Attorney (fed) getting serious about crime of adults and older teens would help.

DC government has lost the Mandate of Heaven. I suspect a lot of people would be secretly relieved if the federal government exercised its Constitutional authority and put competent government in place. Not holding my breath, though.

Well, the new Fed in charge of DC’s crime is refusing to process crimes. That’s on the feds already.

What’s funny to me how Trayon goons were so obviously trying to race bait people on dcum to be able to cry racism when he was being kicked out for bribes. And no one was racist. And that’s the Council. Hillier than though in a liberal sanctuary city. And good riddance but we’ll go down with them

One thing I would like to see is that anyone who ever served under this Home Rule cannot get an office ever again when it’s reinstated. We can’t live trough the cycles of incompetence and corruption over and over again.

There would be a lot less calls if DC filled the potholes, empty trash cans, and picked up the leaves.

My trash and leaves get picked up fine and DDOT does a pothole blitz every spring. I can call to get my bulk trash picked up for free within a week. I’d love to know what Congress’s idea is to improve public works lol.

This is what concerns me. I am not going to pretend like the crime in DC doesn’t bother me and doesn’t need to change, but realistically it doesn’t affect me and isn’t likely to. Public works—trash pickup, road work, 311—that affects me and DC actually does them pretty well. Does this administration have a plan for these items? I don’t trust them to get it right.

How does crime not affect you if you live there? it happens even in nice neighborhoods.
