Nothing. I would ask that billionaires and their companies pay their full share of taxes.

And yes, all the bike lanes that carry 1-3 bikes a week.

This is because of a court order. When I was at OSSE, we got out of court receivership, only to go back in a few years ago. Huge boondoggle.

Basically, a company can buy stuff on amazon or wherever and sell it to DC for a 12% markup. I see some value in buying local but 3% seems fine.

Also DC could get tons of money if it more vigorously booted and towed cars with unpaid tickets.

Removing the personal property tax filing requirement for businesses with less than $225k in property would not reduce tax revenue and DC could process 58,000 fewer returns. This would save money and make life easier for businesses. The DC tax reform commission considered this (see https://drive.google.com/file/d/1f84tmUL2Mfatfr_uvaw0--8Mplm8n8K9/view) but they stupidly twisted it into getting rid of the tax altogether and then the commission imploded. The Council could still do this though.

DC should also get rid of the "married filing separately on the same return" filing status. No state has it, it makes things more complicated for tax filers, and it costs DC money. Just use the same filing statuses as the federal return.

How refreshing would that be?! I file property tax in Falls Church for like $1000. It's like $20 in taxes.

the city bought a bunch of miniature street cleaning machines that are specially made to clean bike lanes. they cost $300,000 a piece. wouldn't want the bike lanes to get dirty.
