The question isn't whether someone who doesn't hate cold weather can deal with cold weather.

Warm schools in the 60s are Santa Clara, Tulane and Miami. Would you still send your kid there over Michigan?

It would entirely depend on what the kid wants.

My dd completely refused to consider cold weather, she would not do it.

First, your student needs to own the decision, that will matter to their happiness.

Second, do not compare schools, compare programs. Since people used Michigan and Miami above, both have very good life science programs with research, med schools, etc. 25 vs 60 might not matter as much there.

Third, fall is nice in Ann Arbor, but I attended two graduations there for family and one had snow. Winter is long and gray.

Fourth, seasonal effect is real. I went to upstate NY and it was terrible and remote. Ann Arbor is a better college town though. Make sure you are not north and remote both, that is the really bad combo.
