Contractors who do home renovations and the like should also be worried. My husband and I (not feds or contractors) just decided to hold off indefinitely on a kitchen remodel because we are cutting spending in anticipation of what is to come.

My first responsibility is to my own family. People can fend for themselves.

I think restaurants are going to have a really hard time over the next couple of years. The food inflation is going to be devastating. If you think prices are high now, just wait. Labor is also going to be a problem. A lot of people working in the kitchens or bussing tables aren't here all that legally. And many restaurants squandered the Covid goodwill with sneaky non-menu charges that continue to this day. I don't think there's a lot of love for restaurant owners generally. Hopefully the mom and pop local places have enough customer loyalty and goodwill to get through. But I'm not going to be all that upset if the mediocre, over-charging, bad service, Covid profiting, greedy ownership type restaurants are eventually replaced with a new generation of more neighborhood friendly restaurants that at least try.

Committing to supporting something in response to tariffs is not a thought that is going through my head

Disgusting. I ordered it once because it had strangely positive reviews. It was so gross I gave a piece to the dog and then tossed the whole thing in the trash. Inedible.

We really only buy baked goods from outside the home. The in restaurant dining experience for the money is just not worth the squeeze. Of all the performative things we would consider - of which there never would be - going out to restaurants more is not one of them.

Um, did you know you can customize your own toppings?

They have specialty "seasonal" pizzas. That's the only reason to go.
