I'm confused though. Is this buyout-not-buyout legal? Or will it be enjoined too?

An earlier email message described this, what is expected is an offer for the employee to continue working remotely for 8 months if you agree to resign September 30.

I am retirement eligible and could get a good job in the private sector though possibly not immediately given the glut.

I love my current job which is significantly shielded from the chaos, for now.

If this is really resign and get paid for 8 months until September (no work required) I would seriously consider taking it.

Just another example of their bullying. Don’t become a victim of it. No one should take this buyout. Force him and his cronies to fire people, see gets voted back into office in two years.

Many federal employees are fine with being back in the office. The ones who aren't are disproportionately represented here. Though I admit, they don't represent the federal workforce well.

Right. IF this money even actually materializes, you'd be entering an absolutely terrible job market, and that's before accounting for all the newly out of work former feds flooding the market. Remote jobs aren't just growing on trees these days. You'd be an idiot to take this offer.

Trump’s buyout tells me that he’s learned he can’t just fire everyone.

That administrative leave means people are getting paid for not going to work.

That there are more civil service protections than Trump understood.

This is his next move to undercut Feds and cheat them out of benefits with this invented “deal”.

Telling the PTO to RTO is bizarre. They've had a unique hoteling arrangement for decades, nothing to do with the pandemic or anything else. Only a dolt would tell them to go back in the building.
