but they are also reject kids in the 290s. at least in blair's case. ECs?
I feel they have high cutoff scores for low Farms middle school and low cutoff scores for high farms middle school. So that’s why lots of 280 and 290 kids get surprised
That's the procedure for the ES and MS magnets but not HS.
For high school, extracurriculars, honors/awards, and the essay carry real weight.
This is a factor for HS admission
^ services such as receiving special education services, ELD- English Language Development, 504 accommodations plan and Free and Reduced Meals
Sure but that's not what PP said. If anything that policy is a boost to kids in low FARMS schools because they have the resources for testing.
Anyone can request MCPS to do such testing for free.
Ok, now follow that thread for a minute. Who is the most likely to know about those services, and feel free to access them, and then to challenge them if they disagree?
PP made a concrete claim (tiers based on FARMS rates), and this is just moving the goalposts to avoid admitting you (or they) were wrong.
Are you saying low FARM rate schools have higher 504 accommodations and IEPs? Do you have data to support that? It’s just your speculation.
Different poster but it’s well known that wealthy white patents are the ones that demand their kids get special treatment though a “diagnosis”. My own kid is wise enough to this that he’s noticed the racial distinctions between those who get extra time on tests - it’s the white kids with pushy parents.

Low farm schools are not just white kids. There are many other ethnic groups who don’t even know the process.

makes sense - but they are not supposed to know MS?
Is there any source for school blind admission?
The open houses for the programs. I believe it’s also specified in the available written descriptions online but would have to search. Of course if the essay mentioned something unique to a particular school they will know
If a student is in a middle school magnet, then it is not school blind. The evaluators can tell from the name of the courses if it is a magnet class and therefore ascertain that student is at TPMS or Eastern. So somewhat school hidden, but not blind.
