So I knew it was from the lab since the beginning.
Scientists suffer from dogmatic thinking as much as anyone. And fauci should have stopped gain of function research when he was told to stop.
This is exactly how MAGA lean toward conspiracy thinking. Her comment does not equate "IT IS ABSOLUTELY A LAB LEAK!" You understand that right? To make up your mind based on that statement is not smart. To say "sure that is interesting" would be more appropriate and frankly, more intelligent.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Definitely not maga but it never made sense to me that it was NOT a lab leak. Bizarrely huge coincidence that it would have started in the town working on this virus and somehow not been connected to it.
But there are also lots of other coronaviruses in China. SARS and MERs are also coronaviruses. People who live near bat caves in China become infected with various coronaviruses, just depends on which ones get out. COVID was not the first coronavirus pandemic to come out of China and certainly will not be the last either.

This is now after the Biden Administration opened up extensive investigations into the lab leak theory and the New York Times ran a long piece putting together a very plausible story.
I know the immediate response will be, "How does this change anything?". Well, for starters, it greatly damages the reputation of the scientific community going forward. Remember when top publications like Science and Nature were trying to downplay the possibility of a lab leak? The entire scientific community has been outed as being entirely susceptible to dangerous group think that clearly has a political agenda injected into it. The truth and being transparent do not matter. This should also have severe consequences for China. I mean if country causes the worst manmade disaster in human history that caused millions of deaths, including 1.2M of our own citizens, and trillions of dollars in economic damage, shouldn't they face severe repercussions?
Could this possibly be because Trump installed a conspiracy crank at the CIA?
Yep right!
Biden officials determined this not Trump’s. You people sure do refuse to open your eyes to reality.

Exactly. And no, we don’t have a good source to turn to for information because everything and the delivery systems through which we are delivered information is being questioned.
I’m glad Apple is establishing VPN service on their browsers. Right now, my hope is that they have the money to stand by fighting algorithms that are destroying news services.

The CIA has given a low confidence report that it could have possibly been accidentally leaked by a lab. This was discussed in 2020 and beyond. It’s not proof to the scapegoat-happy crazy stories are correct. This is literally what we already knew.

I agree but I think the controversial part is that even though circumstantially we can say it’s possible, maybe even likely, there isn’t actually any proof.
Anonymous wrote:States confidence level in a lab leak is "low" meaning evidence is weak and even self-contradictory.
This is pretty far from definitive and seems to have been put out just to satisfy MAGA with a bogus "own the libs" moment without actual sound data behind it.

Anonymous wrote:Why do so many DCUM posters think it’s so implausible that it came from a lab leak.
Why is that immediate grounds to label someone a conspiracy kook and then discredit everything they say.
I just don’t understand this mentality. People here believe the pee-pee tape conspiracy and the Hunter’s-laptop-is-fake conspiracy, but a lab leak for covid is just too impossible to believe?
Can someone explain this?
