At 7am Wednesday, wind chill -11 degrees. Aside from any snow. How warm could it even be 2 hours later

Yes, too cold for little Larla and Larlo.

If parts of the county really gets 5” of snow Sunday, there won’t be anyone clearing schools Monday so that’s definitely going to affect Tuesday.

I'm confident there will be a two hour delay because of the temperature. This happened when I was a child, although it was more for like -10 degree temps. We went to school on time for anything above 0.

I love delays. The kids are more awake for 1st block and there is SO MUCH FLUFF in a 90 minute period to keep kids engaged that we get through the same amount in a 60 minute delay block.

+100 from another HS Teacher... I teach freshman and the 90 minute blocks are sometimes too long for them to focus. 60 minutes is perfect. I am so hoping for more delays!

+1 I’m the PP who loves delays as well. My kid gets to have more sleep and thus learn better. Win win.

LEAVER THEM ON FROM THE night before - I rather pay more taxes then have the kids at home

You also can't have kids standing at the bus stops

I don't wish for snow days but I also understand and I'm ok with why counties close for weather? It happens and you all are not the first generation to experience this. If the roads are dangerous your kids arent' going to school. why are mothers tantruming over this every snow storm?

DP. There are other people on here very clearly stating they want as many closures as possible. Probably teachers. And probably others here who are snow nerds and/or have anxiety that are not hoping for closures but merely obsessing over the possibility. Some strange people here for sure.

What upcoming snowstorm is going to make the roads unsafe? I don’t see anything. It’s sounds like certain apps are inaccurate with their history of wild predictions so not sure why anyone puts stock in those. I do see negative wind chills predicted for next week with temps in the low double digits. I do not know the temp at which buses do not start but I wouldn’t think the wind chill necessarily matters for that. If the temps in 2013-2014 and 2018 were similar to what’s predicted for next week then it seems possible. No one is weighing in with actual data. They’re framing their hopes as confident predictions. Very odd.

What's very odd is that you are giving this as much thought as you are. I don't care.

Why are you here if you don’t care? Please.

Why are you here....oh right to tantrum. Job done well.

They did but it was either 2013-2014 so you missed it. We had a polar vortex with sub zero temps and wind and the buses couldn’t start in those temps, nor did they want kids out in it .
I remember this. They could not get the busses started for 2 days. And it was NOT just FCPS, it was every district that were experiencing the extreme cold. Temps were in single digits with negative wind chills. Our buses are built(engines) differently than those in Northern US.

Another witness that yes FCPS has closed for cold in our lifetimes.

There was much talk about kids waiting in the dark, likely without proper gear. Sure some older kids don't even have coats because they just layer thermals and sweatshirts. Even most kids who surely have coats and gloves don't have gear rated for such low temperatures. Your gloves that keep you warm at 36 degrees aren't going to touch the cold caused by 10 degrees.

That’s a little dramatic. They kids will be fine for short periods. The busses, however, are another thing.

I feel like Reid should know whether they’d call it for cold.

I am flying my American flag upside down on Monday. Good enough for Fuhrer Alito, good enough for me.

Everyone commemorates the day in their own way.

Me, I'll be doing what I do on every inauguration day: keeping to my usual Monday schedule.
