NP. I’m not in DC but yesterday when I went shopping, I went to four supermarkets looking for eggs and none had any.

Bethesda Giant. Shelves were full of eggs.

I hope someone just dropped those eggs or they fell off a shelf and it wasn't the result of some kind of customer fight over eggs.

So... what are at the best alternatives to eggs these days? Especially in baking?

Duck eggs are delicious!

not according to your local government!

no one is stopping you from moving 30 miles west or east to your own little farm.

Almost every local jurisdiction allows poultry as pets

Lots of vegan substitutes. But ALDI has them for 2.50, so no need really.

OP, you have been pwned.

No the PP was mistaken. Please show me online where they are $2 a dozen at HT.

Go to instacart and shop Harris Teeter. Search eggs. $1.99 with loyalty card.

HT has *30* eggs for $6.99 right now. At least to my delivery address in the DC metro.

That's a pretty good deal too...$2.80/dozen.

Thank you, but the same eggs on HT website are $4.29. So how does instacart show them for less?

No clue...other than some special between HT and Instacart.

Possible it's zip code specific...I am in 20815.

My local government does not ban vegetable gardens. I don't know about yours.

Do you think raising chickens is free or cheap? The general consensus is about $40 a month for a few birds, plus the price of a coop. That doesn't include the labor or value of your time. You can buy 10 dozen eggs at the store for that cost.

*when sufficient acres available to do so without becoming a nuisance that impacts others from enjoying their own property.

Which is why you can't necessarily do this in an urban environment.

You can (legally) if the zoning code says you can. And the zoning code can be changed.

I don't keep chickens on my property, but my neighbors do keep chickens on their property. I find it's helpful to distinguish between the property you own (where it's your decision whether or not to keep chickens) and the property you don't own (where it's not your decision).

No, that's not how it works. However, you could offer your neighbor $??? to not have backyard chickens. I wonder what the neighbor's price would be. Maybe it would be $4/week, and you'd be all set. Or maybe it would be more.
