Then you read about what Saint JFK was up to and other historical stars of the left and the right … and I guess I internalized those lessons that private conduct is separate from the presidency. I mean Hillary Clinton stayed married to at best a sexual abuser and at worst to someone that grabbing women by… and she did it for political expediency. HRC was out there defending a sexual predator while dismissing his victims as being part of some vast right wing conspiracy. Yes, Trump’s private conduct was much worse than that of HRC, but if decency and good behavior matters then we should have all been disgusted by HRC.
The whole “disqualified” line of attack annoyed me and pushed me more right. Someone who perjured himself, even if only about sex, should also have “disqualified” himself from the presidency, but as a teenager I was told that didn’t matter. I’m not saying you will agree with me or accept this, OP. I’m just answering your question.
I have never heard a democrat defend Clinton. He was in his second term when the Lewinsky scandal broke. Yes, there were other allegations before that, but this is the one that was irrefutable at the time. It did change our opinion of him. DocI think he did a great job as president? Yes. Do I think he was a good person? No. If given the chance, would I have voted for him again? No.
I was not alive during JFK’s time so I can’t speak much to that. Information obviously did not travel as well during that time, and I assume most people just brushed it off as rumors. I don’t know anyone other than boomers who admire him as a person. Just like Clinton, knowing what we now know, I wouldn’t vote for him.
You can’t be serious about blaming Hillary for Bill’s affair. That is victim blaming at its finest. We don’t know the details of their private life leading up to that or after. We don’t know how or why they worked things out and stayed together. Lots of people end up staying together after an affair. Do you despise all of those couples as well?

WJC was impeached by the House but acquitted by the Senate for perjury and obstruction of justice. Not a single democratic senator voted to convict him on the impeachment charges. I may have been young, but I remember clearly he was defended on “he may not be a good guy or he may have perjured himself, but this is about sex and this doesn’t rise to high crimes and misdemeanors.” The NYT did a roundup of editorials with papers around the country calling for censure, not conviction.
And we haven’t even talked about what he was doing with cigars in the Oval Office, yet. You think locker room talk on a hit mic is bad? How do you explain cigars in the Oval Office to your daughter? Or does it not matter when it is your side? You know what word nobody ever said during the Lewinsky scandal and the credible accusations of rape and sexual harassment? “Disqualified”.
So yes, at the time the entire democratic machine got behind him and defended him. And it was politically expedient. WJC brought the democrats out of the dessert and was the first ray of hope on a national level since JFK. They all defended him at the time. Most notably HRC.
I don’t blame HRC for his affairs and sexual harassment. I do blame HRC for going on the attack against of WJC’s accusers. How would you feel if Melania was attacking, directly or indirectly, Trump’s accusers?

It's just two guys talking dirty and none of that really happened, except, maybe, going to the furniture with that woman which didn't really go anywhere. Why didn't he "grab the pussy" of that one? He is no more pussy grabber "a star women let do anything" than he is the most successful businessman and president with the biggest crowds.
This.
Plus, OP's premise is really faux outrage. Your. Outrage. Is. Fake.
It is so fake, in fact, that you OP, and your supporters in this thread, cheered and whooped when Lil John appeared at the DNC and they even played his song, "Get Low."
Have you even stopped for a second to consider what Lil John was actually saying in his 2024 DNC convention song? Seriously, have you?
Go look up those lyrics. Actually read them. Then consider whether you really discovered an "ah-ha! Gotcha!" moment, or merely a politically expedient recording of vulgar locker room banter, which really does not matter, even to you.

You can’t be serious about absolving Hillary of blame for how she smeared her husband’s accusers?
I can. She was the cheated on spouse. And of course was pissed and lashed out. This happens ALL THE TIME in this situation and she's no different. But you already know this.

But not interesting or surprising at the misogyny in this country. Willing to discount what he said -and ofc he has done it but even saying it- just b/c it makes you comfortable with your own prejudices.
Typical.

Anonymous wrote:So people who were disgusted by Clinton's behavior voted for Trump even though he is arguably even worse. Yeah, that makes sense.
