This thread is so disheartening, but not terribly surprising.

My three teens, my husband and I all got COVID booster and flu shots in the fall.

+1 Covid doesn't seem to bother our family at all. We got our 3 Covid shots back in 2020 and are done. But the flu? No thanks. So we've all been getting the flu shot every year for 10-20 years and haven't had the flu since then.

Your anecdote means nothing. I’ve gotten Covid shots keep getting Covid. Never had flu shots never got the flu

We almost always get the flu shot. Everyone got the flu shot this year but me. I just forgot.
We got the first round of COVID shots but haven’t done it in a couple years. Boys 13 and 15.

Health professionals were clear that the main benefit was less severe illness. I don't know what media you watch, but I was aware it reduced but didn't prevent transmission.

Yep. We were all forced to get the vaccine so we'd have less severe illness.

By "forced" do you mean your employer required it? Your employer whose healthcare expenses rise if you are severely ill?

Same. The one year I didn't get a flu shot, I got the flu and thought I was going to die. It's really bad!

Covid shot doesn't give me any assurance. Also have had covid twice and the second time it was like allergies.

My teenage boys, 19, 17, 15 do not get the annual flu shot or have ever received the Covid shots. They are athletes and eat extremely well; even the one in college.

They have experienced the occasional sick day over the years but bounce back easily with old fashioned methods of care; rest, tea, bone broth, extra vitamins etc. We stay away from most mainstream remedies as we have learned many only serve to decrease the body’s natural immune response (ie Tylenol depletes glutathione.)

This works for our family. Husband and I are also not Covid vaccinated, in our 50’s and are active and healthy (on zero medications or HRT). We value family time, getting good rest and eating a whole food animal based diet.

My kids are males, athletes and all of the heart data concerned me. None of us have ever tested positive for Covid, now 5 years later. Never got a booster or variant shot, etc,

My kids have had all required vaccines, get flu shots, etc. I think we have the genetic variant so Covid doesn’t affect us. We have been exposed closely before and still nobody has gotten it.

My answer to you would depend on if your kids have ever had covid or not. Our kids had the first two shots and one of them had a booster after that, and all of them have had covid which was really mild for us all. We only get flu shots now. If you’ve never had covid, or you aren’t sure, I would encourage at least the first two shots.
