And what did your husband purchase for your father?

This is why some of you are unhappily married. We divide tasks in our household. He doesn’t mow half the lawn and wait for me to mow the other half.

OP was hostile and posted here to get DCUM strokes for being an a**.

She has a vagina. It is deeply embedded in her personality to judge others.

OP, perhaps you posted here trying to sound clever and sophisticated and this is not who you really are? I hope so for you do not come off as a likeable person.

Hoping someone dies young because she was brusque is your idea of being warm-hearted? Sheesh.

+1. This right here is the difference between being “nice” and truly kind. “Nice” people may use honeyed words, but their black hearts then wish early death on others with a different viewpoint. That is an evil thing to say. Evil.

DP but my father died when I was 3.

However, my husband has always bought my mom small tokens of appreciation and gifts throughout the year and this year he bought mom a nice gift for Christmas.

Weird. DH and I plan our gift giving together. Sometimes he comes up with the best idea and sometimes I do. We don’t separate mine from yours. Plus, we each have individual relationships with each other’s siblings and their spouses so a question from one of my SILs wouldn’t be out of the ordinary.

My father has since passed; but DH had the idea of a great golf club set one year and bought tickets to a hockey game because my dad was a fan. Why?

It sounds like you responded rudely. Yes, it's dumb that she assumes that because you're woman you bought all the gifts, but I would have said "I'm not sure, Jake bought presents and we haven't started wrapping anything yet" or something like that.
