The email was for universal screener not parent referrals. The screening committees meet next year to decide so you’ll find out in April just like we will if they are accepted into AAP
Right I know that. I am saying that it's not going to people who parent referred if their kid was not in pool. ☺️

In a similar boat. Test situation was not optimal and dc is not always a conscientious test taker.
Additionally, my understanding is that to be in pool they have to have done well on both the NNAT and CogAT. No one knows how they are weighted in the in-pool cut off score.
My thought is to retake the CogAT if it's a really poor score. Not sure I would go the "private diagnosis" route and get a WISC.
This is interesting to me because my child only took the CogAT and not the NNAT (he was in private in 1st grade). The AART told me that he didn't need to have a NNAT score to qualify for AAP and so we didn't pursue testing. She never mentioned that the universal screener used both scores as a qualifier. If that's the case, I'm annoyed she didn't share that. We did a parent referral and I am choosing to believe them when they say that there's not more weight to being referred by the screener, but I still would have appreciated it if I'd had this information months ago.
I assume they take this into account when running the calculation. Having an NNAT may have helped if it was sky high, but not having one most likely did not hurt.

You can get a WISC via GMU for relatively inexpensive and not as part of a private diagnostic. If you really need it, it's nice to know it's there.
