They are arguing it because USNWR ranks Hopkins as no 6 and Georgetown at no 24 in international relations. USNWR is the gold standard . No one cares what a magazine has collected in a survey
Lol, no, it doesn’t. This is factually wrong. USNWR doesn’t rank IR. They just list colleges that offer IR as a major and show their national university rank next to them.
Inside the Ivory Tower is the gold standard. They survey 1500 IR academics and professionals. And Georgetown tops Hopkins.
They are both great schools. But one is consistently above the other.
It wouldn’t be crazy to also consider the fact that they both have highly ranked IR programs but one is a T10 university and the other a T25. Just like considering Hopkins offers far better financial aid.
There is no “right” answer here and op’s kid would be fortunate to attend either.

How many IR majors wind up doing something beyond think tank work? Hopkins helped me get into a T5 law school.
That’s great. Georgetown SFS sends a ton of people to top law schools.
Actually, you can apply early to Georgetown law school from SFS and you don’t have to take the LSAT.
Stop trying to make Hopkins out to be better than Georgetown SFS. It’s not convincing.
Is Georgetown a T14 law school? I thought it was just outside.

There is a joint Bachelors/Masters at SFS that is 5 years. You apply during junior year. Read the link.
There is definitely a Bachelors/Masters in 5yrs at SFS but you have to plan very carefully because it requires you to take 1/2 of the grad level courses your 4th year - which means you need to be mostly done with any other requirements.
