Update from my scans today:

I have multiple tumors in my brain that weren’t able to be removed via surgery. I also have 2 tumors in my lungs. These are all metastases of my melanoma.

The doctors are hopeful that immunotherapy will effectively treat them.

I am feeling positive— that I will win this battle, that I got this wig (I like the short hair, just not the bald spots), and that I can remember all of Angelina’s kids’ names.

Now, as @bravoandy would say: with all due… f*** off, cancer!

I only know about metastatic cancer from my mother who had a very rare sarcoma that was ultimately fatal following several years of treatment. Some people posted online on reddit that they were successfully treated for metastatic melanoma using immunotherapy. That sounds like an incredible developmemt.Hopefully immunotherapy is successful for Teddy!

That’s awful. Her kids are still pretty young. F cancer. Hopefully there’s a really good treatment protocol for her specific tumor subtype.

You would not necessarily be aware of cancer spread before it got to the brain. Once cancer cells metastasize, they can do anywhere. Including the brain. She could’ve felt perfectly fine until she had some symptoms (headache, blurry vision), etc. Her doctor has probably now done a full body scan + bone scan to check for metastasis in other organs and the bones. But yes, totally possible it was melanoma with metastasis to the brain.

Also possible it was a second cancer. Did she say if it was benign or malignant?

No, not really. When cancer metastasizes, patients typically learn about it via a scan (with no accompanying symptoms) or they have symptoms. When they have symptoms, the symptoms are usually tied to the actual place where the cancer metastasized. So if it metastasizes to your bones = you may have bone pain, fractures. If it metastasizes to your brain = you may have headaches or blurred vision. If it metastasizes to an organ like liver or lungs = you may have trouble breathing, pneumonia, etc.

The scary thing is you can actually get to stage iv, metastasized cancer and have zero symptoms. Rare but it does happen. You wouldn’t know it until you do get symptoms or you happened to have a scan (CT, PET, etc).

She had debilitating headaches for 6 months. That’s the symptom. It’s not known publicly if the tumors are benign or malignant.

Well, when you cheat on your husband it's hard to feel sorry for you when you end up getting divorced. She knew his wife and the fact that they had a young child and a baby on the way. She was friends with his wife! It's despicable what she did.
