Several weeks ago I was having lunch with an old friend whom I've known for 25 years. I decided to try to come out of the closet and tell her that I'm voting for Trump. She started crying, right there in the middle of lunch, in a busy DC restaurant.

If you’re just going to vote to end your own rights, maybe don’t vote instead of trying to take every other woman down with you. If Trump wins, in a few years I guarantee you’ll be able to see the connection between abortion and the rest of what your Christofascist party wants to do to rights.

It’s a big deal. If there is a national abortion ban, my DD will get an IUD. A few of her friends want to get their tubes tied as they think they don’t want kids. Date rape in college is far too common. It’s not even just from drinking, it’s from getting your drink spiked. The girls have special straws that detect date rape drugs now. Being forced by the state, to serve as your rapists human incubator is not something any women should be forced to endure.

DH and I probably would not have had kids if elective and medically necessary abortion was banned. I could not bear being forced by the state to continue with a non viable pregnancy and wait for the fetus to just die left only with the damage to my body and astronomical medical bills.

These are not uncommon occurrences. It has nothing to do with being careful.

None of that helps you when you (or more likely your “mature and caring partner”) are miscarrying your much wanted child during a long layover at Hartsfield-Jackson and the stewards you don’t seem to think you have chosen have tied the hands of the doctors who could otherwise save your life, health or future fertility.

I'm French living in DC, and I've lived in Europe, Asia and North America.

The US economy is the envy of the world, that is correct. It has bounced back better form Covid than any other.

Of course inflation has hurt families in the US, particularly in certain manufacturing sectors. But nothing like other parts of the world, like in France and Germany, who have themselves fared far better than other developed countries.

So stop whining and vote for what's actually important. Your basic freedom. If you can't decide what you want to do with your own body, you are a slave. Not a PC term. But it's true.

Yet you’re so dumb that you think that birth control would remain legal (if the GOP gets in office? That’ll be gone), that you’d have the same rights to choose a partner (better pray you don’t get raped and conceive from that because that guy would be in your life forever), and any rights to work in jobs that would be deemed suitable for men.
