Subject: Parents: What did you want and where did you end up?
Wanted Oberlin. Got Michigan.
A SLAC would have been better for me; I knew what I needed but didn't know enough to apply to a range of SLACs. I didn't even know the names of many schools.
Michigan was fine but it was (and I believe still is) overrated.

No, went on from Delaware to a top5 law school. My kids wish they had Ivy legacy status but my life has been great!
I was similar, high stats, high potential. Got into Cornell (goal school) parents refused to pay. Went full ride at my midwest nothing state school. Graduated suma cum laude, went to grad school for MS and PhD fully funded. No regrets. My kids will likely do the same. Undergrad is only a stepping stone of they are going to grad school.

Wanted Columbia, was rejected and went to Cornell 15 years ago. In hindsight very glad about that rejection, Cornell was a great fit. Life changing as coming from a low SES first gen background.

Colby/Bucknell
Got into Colby but parents said it was too far away. Enjoyed Bucknell and probably wouldn’t have liked in the end how small Colby was size wise.

Carleton was my 2nd choice so all was good, and definitely the best choice for me in the end.
