FEMA has set up emergency centers in towns and people can use computers there to apply for the $750. FEMA workers there actually hand out the payment upon completion of the forms. It'll take many days for everyone to get to the centers, but the response is must quicker than Katrina and Maria. Many stores are open but don't have the electricity/internet to accept credit cards. I'm wondering what you, Emergency Services expert, would do differently?
They need to put many more "foot soldiers" on the ground to take basic items to people in remote areas. They cannot expect people to get to centers to use computers.
Where? With what funding? I doubt FEMA has enough to handle another response without Congress appropriating additional funding. Of course, the House GOP is on recess for the foreseeable future.

Yes, if Republican Congresspeople were willing to show up during a NATIONAL EMERGENCY and do what we pay them to do -- like pass additional funds for FEMA -- it would be nice. Oh, well, I'm sure they have their list of grievances why not.
Or are you suggesting FEMA, a federal agency, illegally appropriate money from a fund allocated elsewhere? Is that what you are saying?
They did show up. At least two of them did. But two does not a voting majority make.
This is a failure of Congress, not one party, as far as we know.
FEMA can't just reallocate funds that aren't appropriated for that use, moron. That's Congress's job.
They have the funds. Excuses, excuses.

Aren't there a lot of those wealthy mega Christian churches, especially in the south, that can help out? What are they doing?
They are organizing militias to kill immigrants and gays.

From what I can tell other then emergency relief there is low interest loans and some grants for repairs (which seem generally small). Charities also provide some rebuilding assistance. But nobody is getting their million dollar home rebuilding fully paid for without insurance or personal funds.

Rumor: FEMA will ONLY provide $750 to disaster survivors to support their recovery.
Fact: This is false. This is a type of assistance that you may be approved for soon after you apply, called Serious Needs Assistance. It is an upfront, flexible payment to help cover essential items like food, water, baby formula, breastfeeding supplies, medication and other emergency supplies. There are other forms of assistance that you may qualify for to receive and Serious Needs Assistance is an initial payment you may receive while FEMA assesses your eligibility for additional funds. As your application continues to be reviewed, you may still receive additional forms of assistance for other needs such as support for temporary housing, personal property and home repair costs. If you have questions about your disaster assistance application and what you qualify for, contact us at 1-800-621-3362 to speak with a FEMA representative in your language.
FEMA has had to launch a special web page to correct misinformation like the one first PP posted. Here is the link:
https://www.fema.gov/press-release/20241004/fema-launches-web-page-respond-rumors-and-confirm-facts-related-hurricane
It was stated by Kamala Harris. She was trying to make everyone understand how under control they have it and she said everyone would get $750. Blame her if it is wrong. She said stupid stuff but she is actually running to be president so shockingly people believed her. She is moron and terrified people and made work for FEMA who had to correct the record since she is such a dummy.
Anyone who needs it, gets $750 on the spot so people have cash to get immediate supplies. That is nowhere close to the extent of what people who need it, can get. What Harris said isn't wrong. MAGAs willfully taking that statement and weaponizing it against her is outright disinformation and unAmerican.
For the people hardest hit, they don’t even have stores nearby that are open. Get a clue.
