Yet here we are 3 weeks later with not so much as an acknowledgement of request for transcript, school report or letters. Counselor takes days to respond to an email. Kid is not assertive and doesnt want to go to counselor office for a third time to ask why Naviance is still showing no change in status why those who are weeks behind in the process have what they need. Sometimes parents do just need to get involved.

Your kid needs to fix this. It doesn't get any easier in college, you need to seek out profs and TA's during office hours etc. The squeaky wheel gets the grease (sometimes replaced) but usually the grease. The other kids are probably further along because they are being assertive and managing the process better.

Our school makes a big deal about the kids taking charge but the counselors are often unresponsive until parents get involved.
