I’m 50 and 5’10. Never felt short growing up in 80s never had a problem dating in 90s, 00s and I feel this phenomenon of height obsession is pretty recent
I’ve dated short average and even a bit taller than me. But nowadays women old and young seem to be obsessed. Maybe it’s social media pushing onto to them what high value attractive man is supposed to be
I’ve also spent a lot of time in EU and many countries the average height is much more than USA but I never had difficulty dating there being “below average” by some EU standards and my dates there were close to my height or more
So it’s dumb American women being brainwashed by dumb American social media
Nothing else.
But agree if a guy is 5-10 and woman is 6-1 the sex would be awkward in traditional positions 😂
I'm Eastern European and agree this is completely American thing. Growing up in former USSR, my mom was always telling me not to look at men's height at all. Women are pretty tall in my family, so I was told as long as he's my height or taller it's fine. Men were in shortage post WWII so other qualities than the height (like ability to provide, education, smartness) were what I was taught to look at.
It's very common for EE women to date and marry shorter, distinguished men. People would just think he's very successful or a great human to land a long-legged model

"He's tall!"
They never lead with info about his personality, career, or other physical attributes. It also seems they're willing to overlook obvious red flags as long the dude checks off the height box first.

I wonder if most people will do that in the coming years. If your own genetic material sucks, you can just order materials from people with better genetic material. Then voila, you can have thin gorgeous smart girls and tall brave muscular brilliant boys.

Same but tall men just stride ahead and don't care who they push and shove. It's so rude of them. They think because they are tall they are only required to see other tall people and forget everyone else.

Me on the other hand I love squishy women. They are great in bed too.
