They aren't selling! That's why they are getting rich.

One car, no kids (not by choice but saves a lot of money), haven't moved despite qualifying for a larger mortgage if we wanted one, side hustles that bring in another $5k/yr and also fill up my time so I am not spending. Minimal spending on gym, beauty, clothes, etc. A lot of luck and good health.

They may or may not have had help. We had no help and waited until we were 37...It was a HUGE mistake. In hindsight we should have bought earlier, expanded our search, put most of our savings into owning...so we wasted tens of thousands on rent. Now with prices being so much higher it would be hard to own young without help. We're going to help our kids because we discovered through my own mistakes that we should have bought much much sooner.

The question was:what unique things did you do to get ahead financially?? It IS unique to buy a home when you’re young. I was 25, no family help. It also felt unique to buy in DC in 1998 when we had a “crack mayor”. Our friends thought we were nuts and all bought in MD & VA. Some of us are just answering tje question.
