NAU, which has about 25,000 students, in Flagstaff, Arizona is about 256 miles north of Tucson (about 2 hours and 45 minutes driving time).

Heavily forested Flagstaff, Arizona is a different environment than the desert location of Tucson. To escape the summer heat, many residents of Phoenix drive a bit more than two hours (144 miles) north to enjoy much cooler (20 to 30 degrees cooler) temperatures.

According to a quick google search, housing prices in Flagstaff are considerably higher than in Phoenix and Tucson.

NAU is in flagstaff, way north in the state, north of Sedona. NAU is a gem and lots of kids from California are attending now as Cali schools are impossible to get into. Flagstaff has a ski mountain and is an outdoor Mecca if your kid is interested in that. It is very expensive COL in the town though.

I was a little confused by this as my daughter is there and I hadn’t heard anything and there’s no way something like that wouldn’t have made it on the Facebook page. This was at a different Arizona school. Every school has its challenges but let’s not add any that aren’t even at the school.

My daughter is having a great time and absolutely loves the SALT support. She got great merit aid making this school a lot more affordable than the other schools she was looking at.

No complaints about the school.

Which school in Arizona has rabid bats ? TIA

Same question as above. Also is honors part of acceptance letter or is that notification later?

If kid is National Merit SF/F or National Scholar then Honors is automatically granted.

DS received the Arizona excellence award so I think he has to submit an additional application.

Check the portal under ā€œsupplementalā€, my kid just got accepted and this is what it says in that section:

You will be automatically admitted to The W.A. Franke Honors College due to your National Scholar Status. You are not required to complete our supplemental application at this time.

Thanks. looks like you need National Scholar not Arizona Excellence award to auto admit. We can apply separately though. Literally a third decimal away from the National Scholar šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø

Ew why

Because prestige doesn’t matter for most degrees - why not go to a resort and enjoy yourself for four years while you get the same degree as people burning the candle at both ends in miserable weather? Duh. You obviously haven’t visited.
