Visible abs is not a thing.

There is a flat, defined stomach.
Or abs; what we commonly call a six pack.
Eight pack is a genetic anomaly.

It is very, very unlikely OP will ever have a six pack. You may achieve a flat stomach.

For females it is flirting with serious health issues for a sustained period of time.

As a male who has reached this state several times I can tell you it is unsustainable. Maybe 2-3 months and as I got older it became less. Lower abs (penis crevice) and upper are easy - mid pure water and starvation. Females who can maintain it are juiced. Not a natural state for humans.

Women get six packs all the time. Especially premenopausal women. Around your age, yes. It is much harder. But there's no reason average 30 year old can't get defined abs.

OP is about to turn 41.

It is possible, I am your age with abs. I eat very clean, no unhealthy snacking, no drinking alcohol. Peloton cycling 3 days a week, running 3 days a week. Core 2 times per week, push ups pull ups 2 times per week.

OP, I have visible abs. I work on them nearly daily and have a low BMI. But I have some excess skin from pregnancies so I will be getting a tummy tuck. So it's possible but you may need to just do it surgically.

No bread, sugar, alcohol, low carb, low calorie, and very very hard workouts and you’ll probably be able to do it.

I didn’t even have abs as a vegan teenage athlete - I think it’s just not in the cards for some people.

Ever see really skinny girls who are fit? Many of them still don't have visible abs. It simply isn't possible for everyone no matter what you do.

I see plenty of women with abs, skinny or not. I don't think people are training correctly to get abs. Most people aren't doing abs, or if they are, they're spending 30 minutes doing various bodyweight exercises. When all you're doing is body weight exercises, and you've become proficient enough that you can do them for 30 minutes, the exercises aren't creating enough stress to produce the musculature needed for abs.

OP, did you ever have visibly defined muscles? If not, you probably are on the low end of neurological tone and will never see defined abs no matter how much you work out. Your brain just won't allow the tension to remain long enough to be a constant visual.
