Davidson is a tier too high for the average W&M student.
If anything, W&M stats are slightly higher, with a higher percentage reporting, and slight advantages for W&M in ACT and class rank.
Uh huh, with the 40% acceptance rate. You're hilarious

I meant the vibe. The predominant feeling. I stand by that- Richmond is less woke, more Southern, more cliquey, preppy.
Depends on your kid which they prefer.

Wake Forest ~ Richmond
All great schools!
you had me at “less woke” - junior, we’re going to Richmond!

DP. The white kids at W&M are perhaps more ideologically diverse and intellectually curious than those at Richmond, who can tend toward the country-clubby.
You think this "ought to be true" based on your mental image of the school, but do you have any facts to back it up?

Davidson Middle 50
SAT Reading/Writing 690-750
SAT Math 670-760
ACT 31-33
W&M Middle 50
SAT Reading/Writing 700-750
SAT Math 670-760
ACT 32-34
Data from the schools' respective websites
Davidson has a low admit rate because it is a great school that is small. Don't need many applications when you aren't taking many students.
Some here don't like public schools. So be it.

Someone has upset Davidson mom. Ignore her, op.

Dp, I agree. William and Mary may just pull a more qualified applicant pool, Davidson is a bit more of a niche school. Accepted students stats are more meaningful with respect to selectivity than acceptance rate, which always is lower when a school uses ED. Davidson, like many slacs, also accepts a lot more students test optional than William amd Mary. Peer schools with a slight edge to William and Mary on selectivity.
You think on average a w&m student will make it into Davidson?

seriously, is this true in general?
It is not true. The quirky thing is honestly BS. All kinds of people go to W&M. Just ask Jon Stewart!
Yeah, "quirky" is what people say when they're trying to convince themselves their ordinary suburban kid is somehow different and more special than hundreds of thousands of similar kids.
I always thought quirky was a way of saying nerd or theater kid
