I was never going to be a world class athlete but personally one of the reasons I quit track in high school was feeling so uncomfortable in the skimpy competition outfits. I used to pin the racing top to my sports bra. The dirty old man who fired the starting gun most definitely looked down the girls’ shirts when we crouched to start. Wish we’d had other options then.

Islam requires female athletes to cover up, and they obey.

It’s their choice.

Agree they should have lots of choices. And they do. There’s a reason many women choose the briefs, as it allows for more range of motion at the hip. I’m sure the men would also like to have the full range of motion, but they have to prioritize keeping their “stuff” in place.

What does surprise me is how many people think these women are choosing the briefs for an appearance reason. Why would people not assume the athletes know best, what is functional for their bodies, and that there a good reasons to have less of your body u dear compression in track and field?

I didn’t think anyone looked uncomfortable except from you know, like, running a mile as fast as humanly possible and barely being able to breathe. I don’t think “wedgie” is a top concern at that point

Maybe I’m in the minority, but when I’m looking at these athletes run, tumble, dig the volleyball I never think about what they are wearing. Never once have I said, beautiful pass but her bikini is so small.
