The backseat/2nd row of the Macan is supposedly tiny. Definitely try sitting in it first if you need to carry more than 2 people at a time.

If you must do BMW, the 5-series sedan is the most acceptable choice.

If seems like OP wants an SUV but doesn't need a 3rd row. So, Volvo XC60, Acura RDX, LexusRX may be cheaper. OP wanted unusual, though, and these are all pretty common, with the exception of the RDX (I see many more MDXs).

You need to drive these cars, OP. There is a big difference in how the car feels.

+1 and Lexus is the "pragmatic luxury" choice

Lexus is not luxury.

It’s supposed to be the luxury line of Toyota.

Haven’t been in one in a few years, but the ones I’ve been in are very plastic heavy on the dash and seemed a huge step down from the German cars I’ve been in. Can’t argue about their reliability though.

My lexus had a lot of real wood trim including a wooden steering wheel but my bmw has plastic that looks like wood

Base Acura MDX will be $50k (with discounts) before sales tax.

OP asked for least expensive, and this ain't it. I recently looked around for these...15 year-old Land Cruisers with over 250K miles are still holding their value.

Lexus RX used to be THE car for rich women.

I judge cleanliness more than brand name. If you have a filthy BMW with crumbs all over and trash on the floor and a Honda that's pristine, I'll be more impressed with the Honda.

Toyota Corolla...add fuzzy dice, Batman valve stem caps, and a leather steering wheel cover.
