Yes, all the time (at least, yes, when I lived places with good restaurants).

One of life's simple/great joys is sitting at a bar of a nice restaurant and slowly enjoying the meal and a few glasses of wine.

Are you male?

I feel awkward doing this (sitting at the bar) by myself.

Nope. I feel awkward at a table by myself. Not at all at the bar.

Same. 30 something woman the bar is great.

Any age woman at the bar (over 21 of course) is great.

This is a you issue. I’m female and have no problem eating or getting a drink at the bar alone.

A lonely elderly widow is the best example you got that dining alone isn't pretty sad?

Just get it to-go and save yourself the embarrassment.

Who pissed in your soup?

Truth hurts, loner.

Your views are clearly aberrant.

Embarrassing?? That is in your judgemental head.

I find it very enjoyable, also going to movies alone, and if that bothers you or makes you think I ought to be embarassed I feel sorry for you for being so close minded and judgmental. Try to think outside the box occasionally. Make your own rules. In the meantime rest assured I am not feeling awkward or sad and I am being totally honest. Worry about yourself.

All the time. A woman without a man is like a fish without a bicycle.

As long as I have the money to pay for my meal what's to stop me? I do remember once going to a Turkish restaurant and the maitre'd tried to seat me in the back by the bathrooms. I refused and told him I liked another table by the window. There was no "reserved'" sign in the table and I sat down. He was practically apoplectic.

Who said anything about a man

You did not understand the post.

+1

More often when I am traveling, but I just did it locally Friday night.
