+1 It’s depressing AF. I feel like we are getting priced out of going anywhere.

I feel you! I start tracking flight prices for places I may be remotely interested in as soon as they are released, which is sometimes earlier than available on Googleflights. I have my budget already determined and keep it all tracked so that I know when I spot a great deal, it's time to book! There will be more deals if you track but I got tickets to Copenhagen for my spring break at the end of June when they had a promotion for $320 pp. It IS a budget airline so the only thing included is our personal item (large backpack) and they automatically sit an adult w/a child (I'm with solo with my two kids so they always sit us together). Still, it's always been a pleasant experience. I pack dinner for us, some snacks & treats, and water bottles for each.

We’re new-ish to the DMV— currently thinking about camping in West Virginia, maybe Blackwater Falls state park followed by some days at a nice hotel, like the Stonewall Resort. Has anyone done something like this and can give recommendations? I’m worried it might still be too cold in April to have a lot of fun outdoors. Open to other road trip ideas (we did Williamsburg last year).

We drove to Niagara Falls/Toronto one year for spring break (and did stuff in Buffalo & Pittsburgh as well). It was chilly but very uncrowded.

The Tidewater Virginia (if that’s the right term?) area has a lot to do— historic triangle, but also the Virginia Living Museum, battleship & Chrysler art museum in Norfolk, Fort Monroe, some nice state parks, etc.

Then there’s Philly, Valley Forge, etc. Or Harper’s Ferry, Antietam, etc.

Would Montreal/Quebec be too cold?

2025 is a Jubilee year in Italy and it is expected to be very crowded.

Italy in the summer is always unbearably crowded. And hot.

Add a bunch more people during the Jubilee year to that.

It’s a great week to go skiing out west.

Have a great time! We went last Spring Break and loved it. The good weather and lack of crowds made it an ideal time to go.

The Shenandoah cabins are really nice at the national park and I like the restaurants at the two big resorts. There’s a historic village type thing on the other side of there that I’ve always wanted to go to but haven’t.

Note that Bermuda has more or less the same climate as North Carolina, so it won't necessarily be hot -- average temps in April are in the 60s.

Bermuda is significantly warmer thanks to the gulf stream.

I'm the OP who said I was considering Bermuda. We've gone there in April before and loved it. The water was totally swimmable to us, but since it's not warm enough for lots of travelers it's easier to find hotel deals.
