+1. Gen X started the changes in the workforce that put more women there and made the policies to keep them. They also had the courage to opt out of the workforce to raise their kids if they wanted to (men and women), and didn't care what the late boomers had to say about that.

Take the Kid on the Falling Water - Frank Llloyd Wright tour they will pump out kids after that tour.

The Kaufman Family who commissioned Frank Lloyd Wright to build house owned the Kaufman Department store chain, they had a multiple mansions, know famous people like Albert Einstein, Frida Kahlo and collected Picassos, Tiffany Glass etc. The tour was wonderful.

But it is pointed out the Kaufman's only had one son and he never had children. His famous store chain with no one to take it over got rebranded and sold a few times. In 2005 Macys which now owned the name removed it from the last store and Kaufmans disappeared. Their mansion in Falling Water became a tourist attraction, the Palm Springs Mansion is empty right now for years, Their Pittsburg mansion was given to a college. Everything they owned was divided up and renamed. Other than a Wikipedia page and a few pictures at Falling Water nothing remains of that great family.

I think Zoomers not having kids is completely fine. Considering the cost of parenthood is already higher than it was before, and plus, considering at least my daughter who is 23 and son who is 19, neither plan on going to parenthood and want to value more on their careers and independence. While my son does want marriage, he doesn’t expect to have any kids at all in the future.

How does wanting children make her naive?

I’m a mother of 3 (18, 24, and 33 years old), none of them want kids. Especially the 2 younger siblings who are in the Z spectrum.

My gen z dd (24) said from the time she was a child that she didn’t want kids, just pets. All through college and thereafter she said absolutely no kids. Last week we were talking and she said she wanted to tell me something — she changed her mind about having kids. She explained that she never saw herself as maternal but since she became a pet owner she felt an intense nurturing desire she had never felt before. In my opinion there is a hormonal biological clock intrinsic to every person and having a pet just flipped the switch for her.
