And you know what: your guest might not like it. Any dish you make has the potential to be something your guest doesn’t like. Assuming they are a well functioning adult, they will eat more of things they enjoy, less of things they don’t, and say thank you for your hospitality. First page has some suggestions. I prefer walnuts to pecans in my chicken salad, but nuts are required.

Ok but who cares . It’s actually kinda weird to plan a whole menu around whether a man prefers the chicken salad or not. OP’s husband is a man who requested it. A man who is attending can definitely eat it even if he might not choose it if there were other options.
